It’s that wonderful time of the year when we gather with friends and family to celebrate the season.
A couple of weeks ago, my dear friend Haley Jo invited us ladies over to her beautifully decorated home for beverages and an elegant meal. She had the table set with her Christmas china and best linens. She even had favors!
Bringing us together was the perfect way to begin the holiday season. Thank you, Haley Jo!
Last weekend, I was out with the same ladies at Vince’s in Leland, Miss. to celebrate a birthday. Our hearts and conversations were heavy and dark with the news from Sandy Hook. Following the shootings, I was unaware of the news for the first few hours. At dinner and now, I am still in disbelief of this horrible tragedy.
Halfway through dinner last Friday, I had a chance to catch up my friend Susie Jo and her week’s activities. She shared that she had eaten dinner with Haley Jo and her family. During their meal, Susie Jo pointed out Haley Jo’s holiday decor and commented on her interesting arrangement.
It took them five days to notice I had changed the NOEL to LEON.
Haley Jo immediately suspected me for the holiday decor mayhem.
I had taken a photo with my iPhone. It’s a little blurry from me giggling and shaking the camera. With a busy schedule and loads on my mind, I had forgotten. And for a minute last Friday, I laughed so hard my stomach hurt. I’m grateful my friends have a sense of humor. My spirits were briefly lifted and I think theirs were lifted for a short bit as well.
