It doesn’t feel like Christmas to me until my Christmas cards are ordered. According to a daily email I receive from 100 Days to Christmas, I’m way behind schedule. If I would have taken the 100 Days To Christmas challenge, I’d already have my cards and be preparing to mail them this week. I found the website earlier in the fall and subscribed for daily email updates. We don’t even have our Christmas tree up yet. And I’m okay with that. My Grandmother tells me stories of how Santa brought the Christmas tree with him. That sounds quite magical. I’ll try not to wait until Christmas Eve to decorate the tree, but at least I ordered Christmas cards today.
On Friday just before sunset, we ventured down to the dock for our DIY Christmas Card Photo Shoot. The photo shoot was impromptu and it was a bit stressful in preparing…because of me. I walked in the door around 4:30 and announced today was the day. I shouted orders. “Get white tights. Steam her dress. She needs her big red bow. Where’s the red bow? People…work with me! We are losing daylight.”
We’ve got this routine down now. And I’m happy to report there were no tears this year.
I’m sharing some outtakes from our shoot.
This is the photo we selected to use.
Next year, I will set my sights on getting a real photographer take a family photo for our cards.
Do you order Christmas cards? Have you ordered yours yet?
