You know how much I love living in the Delta, right? I love it.
And there’s lots of love here. So much love, that we have fabulous young couples tying the knot and with that comes pre-wedding festivities.
The majority of the events are very elegant and so beautiful. I mean, the coveted fine china, exquisite sterling silver and crystal are the norm. The creativity of the over-the-top decor is amazing. The creative minds here amaze me. I need to share more from these events I attend, but I’m hesitant because someone may not want to be seen on my blog. (If you find yourself on my blog and don’t want to be, let me know…I can delete or alter photos. I promise to select flattering photos.)
So our dear young friends, Leigh Thompson and Jake Michael are getting married in February. Leigh is my incredible hair stylist and she owns Hairlooms in Lake Village. Is she not gorgeous?
A group of us decided to throw them a party that was different than the rest. We selected a White Trash Wedding Bash theme.
Y’all, this was the most fun I’d ever had planning a party with the hostesses and I don’t think I was alone feeling this way. I was in charge of some appetizers and signs. Michael Wayne and Tisha Wayne opened their lake house for this shindig. Allen Wayne, hung these red solo cups to the icicle lights. That detail needs to be permanent. So fun!
On the day of the party, I had this urge to paint a quick portrait of the couple. I used a black and white photo from the party invitation (seen above) as my inspiration. This fine piece of work is craft acrylic paint and spray paint on plywood. It took me about 20 minutes, but then realized I had spelled Leigh’s name incorrectly in the hashtag. doh.
There’s a reason stuff like that happens because, the sign looked much better after I corrected it. Don’t you think it looks better?
I took my selfie stick for my iPhone 6 plus. That selfie stick (Looq s) broke during the party. The stick isn’t stable enough to handle the size and weight of the iPhone 6 plus. I also had my old iPhone 5s, so I created a redneck selfie stick using a child’s rake, Alliance Rubber Company rubber bands (made in Arkansas) and a bluetooth shutter. To class it up a bit, I used duct tape to label it Redneck Selfie Stick…Redneck marketing and branding.
Here are some pics using the selfie stick.
And a video explaining to my neighbor how to take selfies and groupies with the selfie stick. (The video was from Instagram.)
A Portable LED light accessory is on my wish list if anyone wants to send me one to try.
Are you wondering about the food? Appetizers included potato chips, funyuns, cheesy corn dip, redneck sushi, Bugle n’ easy cheese stashun and this recipe I saw on Pinterest….behold the Savory Ranch Boloney Cake.
I made two of those and we only needed one. Really we only needed half of one. Some liked it. Some…not so much.
Dressing for the occasion was no challenge at all. I broke lots of fashion rules I have for myself. I wore leggings as pants. I layered leopard upon leopard…so much so, someone nicknamed me leopard and they called me leopard all night. Meow. Celeste Hayes on Instagram said my outfit was “purrfect”! That was so cute!
Details like these nails added a nice touch while they lasted.
These nails popped off one by one within in two hours. The package said they’d last up to a week. I’m here to tell ya, those press on nails will only stay on if you remain motionless…like if you spent a week in a coma.
Here are some fashion photos from the party.
A good time was had by all. Would you have tried the bologna cake? Is that not the craziest thing? You know me, I’m all about real food from mother nature. Have you ever attended a party like this? What would you wear? And is there a heavy duty iPhone 6 Plus selfie stick you like? Our rake was the best so far.
Also, sharing is caring. Share this post all you want. I am loving Instagram right now. Go follow me over there @deltamoxie.
