A Year in Pictures

As 2012 comes to a close, I share the past 12 months in pictures.

JANUARY

As long as it’s dry and the temperature is above 40˚F we play tennis outside year round here in southeast Arkansas and the Delta.

Tennis is a year round sport here

At the end of January, I traded in my beloved Volvo XC 70 for this Toyota Prius v (pronounced vee) five. The Prius v is the biggest Prius. It’s like a mini-mini van. After much research on Priuschat.com (ya, I’m that dorky), visiting dealerships and stalking this particular VIN to Little Rock, I bought this much more fuel efficient auto. Meet Pearlie Mae.

FEBRUARY

Did it fall out of the truck bed? Or was it placed here? I had so many questions. This love seat was left by the side of the road by the levee. Too bad it didn’t have the seat cushion.

Mountain View Pastel Workshop Yvonne Sangster

Yvonne Sangster is a wonderful instructor and we had a incredible time. Her art is absolutely amazing and I was hypnotized watching her work. Her pastel career started with the world renown pastel artist, Ben Konis and she continued to study with him for years. She is currently an art instructor at Panhandle State University. She introduced me to Sennelier pastels. They are to die for. If you like my pastels, it’s due to Yvonne’s instruction and demonstration. And I must give props to my best friend MeMe for encouraging me to attend the workshop. Check out Yvonne’s work at yvonnesangster.com.  On a side note: I nicknamed Yvonne, “Why-vonnie” but it didn’t quite fit. Although, MeMe and I will refer to her as “Why-Vonnie” at times.

APRIL

After a month of being on display at my daughter’s school, I got to see myself through my daughter’s eyes. Oh, boy… At least there’s a smile on my face. Not my proudest moment but it’s funny that it was on the wall for all to see for a month.

I confess, I really do love to lay in bed.

Our daughter graduated from kindergarten. We really love St. James’ Episcopal Day School. Kindergarten is the highest grade. Emmy started Mother’s Morning Out when she was 18 months old.

DOCK on Lake Chicot

Heather Wall, Men & Women’s Golf Coach at UAM and her husband, Lake Village Country Club Tennis Pro, Cody Wall organized a Golf, Tennis & Swimming Day Camp at Lake Village Country Club. Here’s a picture of Emmy and Heather during a golf lesson.

Some more of this…

Look at little Poppy on our dock. Someone (I won't mention names) commented on the sad state of my prairie grass. So I spruced the pots up with some big, bright flowers.

Awesome the Hamster

I painted these two pieces for my friend Heather Wall. I mentioned earlier that Heather is the Golf Coach at University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) and she needed some art for her office.  UAM’s mascot is the Boll Weevil. This is the Boll Weevil hanging out in a golf cart.

Heather sent me a picture of this golf course she adored and this is what I came up with:

I attended the fabulous Arkansas Women Bloggers #AWBU #ARWB Unplugged Conference. Again, my best friend MeMe nudged me into attending and I’m grateful for her encouragement.

I don’t know whose truck this is, but I had to snap a shot of it in the Ozark Folk Center parking lot.
